The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) strongly warns the public about fraudulent AI-generated videos currently circulating on social media, particularly Facebook, that misuse the image of the CBSL Governor. These deceptive videos falsely depict the CBSL Governor as endorsing investment schemes that promise extraordinary financial returns and direct viewers to suspicious external links, likely designed to defraud unsuspecting individuals.

CBSL categorically denies any involvement in such promotions and emphasizes that it does not engage in or endorse any investment schemes. These videos are clear attempts by fraudulent parties to mislead the public using deep-fake technology and AI-generated content.

CBSL urge the public to:

Be vigilant and avoid engaging with such fraudulent content.
Verify information from official CBSL sources, such as our website (www.cbsl.gov.lk) and official social media pages.
Report any suspicious content to CBSL for clarification through CBSL's official communication channels.
CBSL is actively working with law enforcement agencies to take appropriate action against such scams.
CBSL also request media institutions to assist in raising public awareness of these fraudulent attempts through traditional and digital channels, including news reports, television, radio announcements, and online platforms.
